What's New in Zumba

Zumba Adds Body Sculpting, Aqua Zumba and ZumbAtomic Classes

If learning Zumba dance moves in a fun fitness class isn't enough, now there are new Zumba classes for everyone in the family, from little ones to Grandma.

Working out in a Zumba class is more like being in a heart-pounding, music-filled discotheque than a fitness class. Taking the globe by storm, Zumba uses spicy Latin music to entice and motivate.

From teens to yummy mummies and gyrating grannies, Zumba has reinvented aerobics with its sexy blend of Latin music and pounding, party-style atmosphere.

Since Zumba began in the mid-1990s, it has grown up and morphed into a fitness program for people of all ages and fitness levels. Positioned as the single most influential movement in the fitness industry, Zumba keeps the masses happy and motivated with its wide foundation of something for everyone.

What is Zumba

Zumba teaches the basics of nine dance rhythms; belly dance, cumbia, flamenco, merengue, reggaeton, rock & roll, samba, salsa and tango. Dance moves are learned at the speed of the songs, great for the brain as well as the body.

What is Zumba Gold

This exercise class was created for the beginner Zumba dancer or for an active older adult. It has all the different dance moves and music, toned down slightly for a whole body workout at a slightly slower pace than a Zumba Basic class.

What is Zumba Toning

This is a Zumba aerobic dance class with an added benefit: it adds toning and body sculpting techniques using the Zumba Toning Sticks. The toning sticks are light weights, easy to grip while dancing.

What is ZumbAtomic

A new Zumba class with a fun-filled approach for kids, especially kids who love music is now available for the younger generation.

What is Aqua Zumba

Created by International Fitness and Aqua Aerobics expert, Mimi Rodriguez Adami, along with the founder and creator of Zumba, Beto Perez, the Aqua Zumba is a fun water workout unlike any other water aerobic class. Find a class by going to the Zumba website and sign up the kids!

Benefits of Zumba

If Zumba is still a foreign word, check out this video of a Zumba class in session to see if it looks like something you'd like to try.

Zumba has:

  • interval training with fast and slow rhythms
  • resistance training combined with dance moves to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat
  • the music and dance moves to keep you coming back week after week

Not only will you learn new dance moves but instructors are constantly coming up with new music and dance mixes to keep the classes fresh and challenging.

And by all means, if Zumba becomes an integral part of your life, consider getting Zumba certified to teach your own class. The need for instructors continues to rise as the population becomes more and more addicted to the dance and fitness craze that continues to spread across the globe in health clubs, YMCAs, living rooms, corporations and community centers.

Let's hear it for Zumba. I am an Aqua Aerobics Instructor at Richland Community College in Dallas. I have been going to the land Zumba classes at my gym in Garland. A group of Aqua Aerobics Instructors attended a demo of Aqua Zumba last month and I am hooked. This weekend, I am going to attend an all day training for Zumba I and II.
I understand that you have to have land zumba certification before you can get certified for the water zumba. I have read everything I can about Zumba certificaiton. My instructor got hers in Florida. Please let me know how I can sign up for the water Zumba training. I am off from Dec. 4 through March 2 and am planning a trip to Florida anyway.
Thanks for your help! Go Zumba!

Connie,
Congrats on your upcoming, all-day Zumba training course! You'll never be the same! In a good way, of course.

To get all the info you need, go to: www.zumba.com/us/workshops/overview and click on AQUA. Then scroll down to find a workshop near you. You'll receive all the info you need at your one-day training to move on to the certification you'd like to have in AQUA. Good luck and best wishes!
